Spell Days
The Spell Days program aims to help the student learn the spelling of the names of the days of the week, by filling in missing letters.
The words for the days of the week are displayed in order in a column, with some of the letters randomly replaced by a dash.
The student must use the keyboard to enter the correct letter for the current dash, which is coloured magenta. Capital letters are required for the beginning of the days, so the student must use both the shift key and the letter key for these.
If the keyed letter is not correct, it is momentarily displayed in grey, and the magenta dash returns. When the correct letter is selected, it replaces the magenta dash and this moves on to the position of the next missing letter. A point is gained for each correct letter, and lost for each incorrect letter.
When all the days have been correctly completed, a success rating of up to five stars is displayed. The congratulation message is displayed and the student is invited to do the exercise again.
If the student does not wish to work through the exercise again, the program exits.
The sound for the instruction messages, the current day and the correctly typed letter may optionally be heard. Incorrect letters are then indicated by a siren sound.
