Months of the Year
The Months of the Year program aims to help the student learn the spelling of the names of the months of the year and the order in which they occur.
The words for the months of the year are displayed in random order in a column at the lefthand side of the sceen.
The student must choose the months in the correct order by clicking the month, or by using the arrow and enter keys. The currently selected month has a magenta border.
If the selected word is not correct, it momentarily turns turns red, and returns to its original colour. When the correct month is selected, it turns grey and also apprears in yellow in a column at the righthand side of the screen. Three points are scored for each correct answer, but one point is deducted for each wrong answer.
When all the months have been correctly selected, a success rating of up to five stars is displayed. The congratulation message is displayed and the student is invited to do it again.
If the student does not wish to work through the exercise again, the program exits.
The sound for the selected month and the instuction messages may optionally be heard.
