Numbers in Words
This program gives practice in interpreting numbers written in words. The user begins by selecting the range of numbers to be practised using the range buttons.
The words for a number in the selected
range are displayed. The user
must click on the digit or digits that represent the displayed number.
If
the correct digit is selected, it will briefy display with a green
background,
e.g.
before displaying to the right of the words. If
more than one
digit is required
for the answer a blinking cursor will display after the digit.
If the wrong digit is selected, its background will briefly
turn red, e.g.
before returning to the normal background
colour.
The user must then
click on another digit. When all the correect digits have
been selected
a tick will display; the words for the next number will then be shown.
A cumulative success rating of up to five stars is displayed. This is based on 5 points awarded for each correct digit selected and one point deducted for each wrong digit.
Different sound effects accompany right and wrong answers. The sound effects can be turned off using the options in the Sound menu.
When the user has finished the set of numbers in the selected range, the same range or a different range may be chosen. The numbers are presented in random order.
For the two higher ranges, the set of numbers will be different each time.
