Snakes and Ladders

The is a variant of the traditional Snakes and Ladders board game adapted to be played against the computer.

This Snakes and Ladders program begins by asking you to choose which colour you would like for your counter. When you have clicked on the colour of your choice, the Computer will choose its counter. The counters will be displayed at the lefthand side of the window throughout the game.

When it is your turn, click on the spinner to see how many dots are displayed. You must then move your counter that number of squares by clicking in the next square you want your counter to move to. Begin at square number 1, the START square.

When it is the Computer's turn, it will stop the spinner and move its counter the correct number of squares.

If either your or the Computer's move ends at the foot of a ladder, the counter will automatically jump up to the square at the top of the ladder. Similarly, if a move ends on the tail of a snake, the counter will automatically jump down to the square containing the snake's head.

To win, the final move must end on square 100, the FINISH square. If a move would go beyond 100, then the move is invalid and the other player has a turn.
