Tangrams

Tangrams are ancient Chinese puzzles, which have been a popular oriental pastime for several thousand years.

The aim is to rearrange the coloured shapes in the square into the a different shape indicated by the black outline filled with grey. Several different outline shapes are available and they are displayed in random order. After the completion of each puzzle, you will be invited to start the next puzzle or to exit the program.

As more than one solution for each puzzle is possible, the program briefly displays the required arrangement at the start of the puzzle and at any time later when you click on the Hint button.

A click the mouse button separates the shapes, which must then be rearranged to fit in the outline. Before dragging a shape into position, it may be rotated or flipped over by double clicking on it and then clicking on one of the Flip or Rotate buttons.
