Verbs: Spelling the -ing Form
The program begins with an explanation about verbs and the suffices used to form their -ing form. It introduces the concept of a junction at the point where the verb and suffix meet. Two types of junction are described: Plus Junctions and Change Junctions. As there are two types of Change Junction, the rules for forming them are also described.
The program then gives the student the opportunity to apply the knowledge gained from the instructional text, by providing three exercises, two exercises where they have to identify junction types and one spelling exercise. For each set of data, any combination of the three exercises may be selected. A star rating scheme is used to measure the student's success and up to a maximum of five stars can be earned.
Two data sets are supplied, and the program Help file gives the tutor instructions for creating more.
